An achromatic lens is situated between the dispersing prisms and the slit. The slit is brought into focus by the axial displacement of the lens. Both spectroscopes Nos. 3156 and 3157 are identical except that No. 3157 is provided with a. comparison prism, rendering a standard spectrum, and clamp for holding specimen vials, containing the fluid under examination.
