This set of microscope specimen preparation tools was supplied by James W. Queen & Co. around 1885. The set includes a bench microtome, live-box, stage forceps with slide carrier, Pennock's eye-shade for use with a monocular microscope, a cased Valentine's knife (a two-bladed knife for making at a single stroke a thin section of a tissue, for microscopic examination), a cased section-cutting microtome razor with ebony handle, and an assortment of smaller tools consisting of knifes, forceps, scissors, needles, etc. All contained within a two-layered wood case. |
