Binocular microscope: H.&W. Crouch 64a Bishopsgate Street, London

H.&W. Crouch 64a Bishopsgate Street, London. Accessories

While this microscope is an obvious copy of the Smith, Beck, & Beck "Large Best" binocular model, the quality of the construction is on par with that model. Additionally, the two boxes of accessories are also nearly identical to those supplied with the Beck "Large Best". The 1864 advertisement reproduced below implies that H. and W. Crouch were former employees of the Smith, Beck, and Beck firm. Perhaps that explains why the early production of Crouch microscopes so closely resembles the instruments of the latter firm.
